Gauntlet - The Third Encounter is an action role-playing game (ARPG) released for the Atari Lynx handheld console. It's a spin-off of the popular Gauntlet arcade series known for its dungeon crawling and simultaneous gameplay. Players choose from four classic fantasy character classes, such as warrior or wizard, to battle hordes of enemies in various levels. The gameplay remains true to the franchise's core elements: exploring labyrinths, collecting power-ups, and battling monsters using melee or ranged attacks. While the Atari Lynx version is a faithful port, it does have limitations compared to its arcade counterparts, mostly in terms of visual fidelity and enemy density. Atari Corporation published the game in both North America and Europe.
